You can add a festive flare to your own bracelet, or even create a whole new Christmas-themed jewelry piece to bring out at the holidays. These charming little beads also make lovely gifts.

As with all Brighton jewelry, these holiday charms are created through a multi-step process that begins with a designer’s hand sketch. Each piece is cast in solid brass or zinc alloy and is lavishly dipped in pure silver. Since silver has a natural tendency to tarnish (oxidize) and scratch, Brighton adds a protective layer of lacquer to assist in retarding this typical occurrence.

John Medeiros, founder and CEO of Tahoe Jewelry, introduced the John Medeiros line in 2000 after having worked in the jewelry industry for many years. As a child of European immigrants in Providence, Rhode Island—once the international capital of costume jewelry production—Medeiros worked after school in the precious metals industry while still in school.

In 1985, Medeiros founded Tahoe Jewelry, where he worked by day to provide the precious metals jewelry industry with intricate polishing and stone setting services. At night, he worked on what would become the John Medeiros line—real jewelry hand crafted from non-precious metals.

Cynthia Jones Hammered Metal Jewelry

Cynthia Jones has been designing and handcrafting jewelry from her studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico since 2006. Her goal is to create jewelry that is modern and sophisticated and that can be worn for any occasion. She wants women who wear her hammered metal jewelry to feel like they’re wearing a unique piece of art created specifically for them.

Cynthia first realized her love of the arts through drawing, and continues to sketch out each piece of jewelry before it is produced. She received a B.S. in metalsmithing/jewelry from Southern Connecticut State University and completed a two year apprenticeship with a jeweler.

Marjorie Baer Jewelry

Marjorie Baer‘s career as a jewelry designer began on the steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art in the late 60′s. It was there that the recent Berkeley grad displayed her first group of handcrafted necklaces, bracelets, and earrings—those artisan pieces laid the groundwork for eighteen years of jewelry collections. Although her style has evolved with the changing times, it’s always maintained Marjorie’s original design concept. Each pair of earrings, necklace, ring, and bracelet is a unique, handcrafted artisan piece of jewelry. Posts are titanium, wires are brass plated with silver and gold, and clips are brass. Materials used in the jewelry design are: brass, copper, sterling silver, glass, wood and plastic. All Marjorie Baer jewelry is designed and made in the U.S.A.

Design isn’t all that’s important to Marjorie. Over the past several years all departments at her company, from jewelry making to packing and shipping to office and catalog, has evaluated its procedures and applied the principles of Reduce, Re-use, and Recycle:

Reduce: Marjorie Baer Accessories conserves water and uses environmentally friendly cleaning products. They’ve reduced jewelry packaging materials and use electronic records and communications over paper whenever possible. The company wastes no metals and uses chemicals sparingly, as well as repair equipment rather than buying new.

Re-use: Marjorie Baer Accessories re-uses cardboard boxes and packing materials as well as paper from faxes and general office use. The jewelry company uses cloth for cleaning instead of paper.

Recycle: All Marjorie Baer Accessories’ metals are recyclable, and 30 – 40% are recycled. Few chemicals are used and those that are are disposed of according to and monitored by the state and local authorities. The jewelry company recycles paper and plastic and all used computer equipment. Recycled tissue paper is used for packing jewelry and bio-degradable bags for shipping handcrafted pieces.

Sue Rosengard Wire Jewelry

The contemporary geometric shapes of Sue Rosengard wire jewelry is inspired by the Modernist movement of the 20th Century, the sculpture of Calder and Picasso, the design style of Russell Wright, and Sue’s favorite childhood cartoon–the Jetsons! She suspects her inspiration also partly comes from growing up in Chicago among skyscrapers and Frank Lloyd Wright influences.

The Little Traveler is completely taken with these timeless, fun, and lightweight designs–structured to flatter the face or lapel of the wearer—and thinks you will be too.

Sue Rosengard jewelry is hand crafted primarily from sterling and gold-filled wire at Sue’s studio in Chicago. Each piece is individually made and no two are exactly identical. Sue rarely uses templates, preferring to instead use her pliers and mandrels, and often just her fingers and hands to form, curve, and bend the silver or gold wire into miniature sculptures.

All components in Sue Rosengard wire jewelry are nickel free (with the exception of the clasp portion of the brooches). In her bracelets, pins, wire earrings (not the ear wire portion), and matte finish discs, Sue uses Argentium™ sterling silver, a relatively new type of sterling silver alloy (92.5% pure silver) that is highly tarnish resistant, harder and more durable than regular sterling.

Perfectly rounded pearls used in Sue Rosengard designs are made of glass, and irregular shaped pearls are freshwater.

Sonja Grondstra Designs – Seaglass Jewelry

Seaglass jewelry has long been a New England summer fashion must. But Sonja Grondstra Designs are something entirely different from common beach-glass baubles – they are fine art. Sonja’s pieces showcase glass as if it were a precious stone or gem. Each piece of her contemporary bracelets, necklaces, earrings, rings, pins, and cuff links truly are one-of-a-kind, and The Little Traveler is excited to introduce Sonja Grondstra Designs as part of our made in the USA jewelry collection.

Sonja is drawn by the unique shapes and soothing colors of glass that’s been tossed and tumbled along the rocky coast of New England for years and years. She sets glass into intricate and designs to create unique necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings and other fine jewelry. The glass is hand bezel-set in sterling silver or gold, accompanied by pearls and semi-precious stones. On occasion, Sonja inserts pieces of beach pottery that she finds particularly interesting.

Sonja began her jewelry career with classes at Massachusetts College of Art. Her first project was to create an object that reflected the environment, so she incorporated various shades of green beach glass into the design of a palm tree. The seed was planted! She went on to take classes in goldsmithing and jewelry design and regularly attended workshops. She is now based in Swampscott, Massachusetts and has been creating beautiful jewelry for over ten years.

The rhythmic surf softens and relaxes my soul bringing a feeling of tranquility and calmness. Brighton Power of Pink

Each October, to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness month, Brighton designs an exclusive Power of Pink bracelet and donates $5 from the sale of each bracelet to breast cancer charities. Since 2003, Brighton has donated $3 million! The Little Traveler will donate an additional $5 per bracelet to the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” fund, so for every bracelet purchased, $10 goes to the cause.
