Popular Holiday Decorating Seminars

Wrap your home as pretty as a Christmas present with the impressive and festive decorating tips you’ll receive at our renowned program. This year’s fun will take place on Nov. 18 and 19; Dec. 1 and 2. Our own interior design and home entertaining experts will show participants how to create stunning table settings, lovely centerpieces, festive garlands and swags, as well as how to select the perfect wines for your holiday soirees and how to put together stylish fashions to wear to festive gatherings.  A tour of the shop will follow the program. Luncheon and fashion show among our Antiques Rooms are included.

Tickets are $17.50 per person, and include a $5 gift certificate to be used on the day of the show. Call 630-232-4200 to register beginning at 10:00am on November 4 for the November seminars and on Nov. 5 for the seminars on December 1 and 2.

Geneva author David Algrim will read and sign purchased copies of: “Wake Up Papa Bear,” “Don’t Touch It’s Hot,” and “Oops-A-Daisy.” 10 a.m. Sat., Oct. 17.

• Kids ages 3-8 are welcome to visit the Toy Department in their Halloween costumes from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Sat., Oct. 31, and enter a drawing to win a toy of their choice up to $10.

“Cooking with Chocolate for Kids,” 10-11 a.m. Sat., Nov. 7, in the Atrium Café. Kids ages 5 and up have fun creating cool chocolate masterpieces. $7. Call for reservations on Oct. 24.

A Tutorial on Tea

Join us for an afternoon tea seminar!

During a lovely morning this fall, you will have the opportunity to learn the “real story” about tea while enjoying it as well. Presented by Mike Brown, Minister of Midwest Commerce from the Republic of Tea, you will learn the differences between green, black, red and white teas, their health benefits, and the proper ways to steep and serve them. In addition, our own Gourmet and tea specialists will show you how to pair these teas with delicious goodies and how to prepare these treats.  9:30 a.m.  Oct. 8, in our Atrium Café. Talk Turkey with a Turkey Expert

She’s been on the other end of the Butterball Turkey hotline, she’s written a turkey cookbook, and she’s gone head-to-head in a turkey cook-off with TV Chef Bobby Flay. Our favorite turkey expert Renee Ferguson of Geneva will be back at The Little Traveler on Nov. 11, to show you the best tricks and tips for preparing, cooking and serving your Thanksgiving Turkey. She is full of humorous anecdotes as well as delicious ideas. Join the fun and Talk Turkey! Seminar begins at 9:30 a.m. with continental breakfast.  $15 per person includes a $5 certificate redeemable the day of the seminar and plenty of samples! Fall Floral and Home Decorating Seminars

During four pleasant mornings, our talented floral and interior designers and home entertaining experts share their love of decorating with you as they present our popular “Harvest Time Floral Arranging and Home Decorating Seminars.” These entertaining events supply you with wonderful ideas to spruce up your space for harvest season. Using the spectacular variety of autumn holiday décor and radiantly colored silk florals and greens, all found on recent travels, our presenters show you how to create eye-catching arrangements, stunning table settings and impressive decorating scenes.

Sept 16, 17, 22 and 23, the seminars begin with continental breakfast at 9:30 a.m. in our Atrium Café, and conclude with luncheon and fashion show. Price is $14.75 and includes a $5 certificate redeemable on the day of the seminar. Tickets are limited.
