Swedish Days starts next Tuesday, June 17, and runs through Sunday, June 22. This year, Geneva's annual misommer festival, presented by Cadence Health, celebrates 65 years! Be sure to visit the Geneva Chamber of Commerce website for a full schedule of all the fun Swedish Days events. We'd like to highlight a few for you:
Swedish Days Concerts Highlight
Time travel from the 1950's through the 1990's on the Central Stage, sponsored by Shodeen Homes. The Central Stage is located on 3rd Street at the Courthouse, and each evening of the festival will feature a different area band that specializes in retro music:
Tuesday, June 17 at 7:30 pm – The Crown Vics (1950's)
Wednesday, June 18 at 8:00 pm – The New Invaders (1960's)
Thursday, June 19 at 8:00 pm – Libido Funk Circus (1970's)
Friday, June 20 at 7:30 pm – Modern Day Romeos (1980's)
Saturday, June 21 at 8:00 pm – 7th Heaven (90's to Modern)
Swedish Days Contests Highlight
Geneva's Got Talent! Cheer on your favorite local entertainer and vote for them on Facebook. The winner will receive a $1000 cash prize. Auditions were held on May 17, and you can see the semi-finalists compete on the Central Stage on Wednesday, June 18 at 6:30pm. The finals will be on Saturday, June 21 at 6:30pm.
Swedish Days Exhibits Highlight
Sweden Väst is bringing the Swedish back to Swedish Days (Sat 10–5 and Sun 10–3). Take a virtual trip to Stockholm on this full block on north 4th Street between Hamilton & State Streets—enter through the Swedish cottage and experience art, music, food, games as you would in Sweden. Examples of what you'll discover: see a demonstration by a Swedish horse carver and learn about the art of Rosemaling. Enjoy Swedish delicacies in the Kafé and even Skype with friends from Sweden. Swedish Days Shopping Highlight
Our tents will be open Tues-Fri 9-5:30; Sat 9-6 & Sun 10-5. Our popular selection of rugs in all sizes will be back—these go fast so be sure to stop by early in the festival. We'll also have a huge selection of cloth & vinyl placemats and vinyl table cloths. One of our best sellers is our collection of bags, totes & lunch bags. This year we'll have an iPad messenger-style padded bag. We'll also have a huge selection of toys, garden stakes, garden tables & chairs, and kitchen textiles, to name just a few.
