Sustainable Style

February 14, 2020

Introducing two great new earth-friendly fashion lines.

Tatami Bags from Cambodia by Saraye

In our Fair Trade+ Gallery, we’re excited to bring you super strong and elegantly designed purses, lunch bags, and wine bags by Saraye (rhymes with “today” and means both “woman” and “freedom” in the Cambodian language of Khmai). They’re made in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, Cambodia under a business model that’s fair and empowering to the people who handcraft each and every item.

Grass is harvested and then colored using natural vegetable dyes. Skilled artisans weave the grass on a loom into a stiff mat material, which helps the bags maintain their unique shapes. They hold up in any weather!

ReActive by Vera Bradley

Vera Bradley has just launched a new line that's all about sustainability. Each yard of fabric in the ReActive collection is made from 16 recycled plastic bottles. Instead of going into a landfill or polluting our earth, this plastic is used to make lightweight, water-repellent, and durable bags.

Styles in the ReActive line are intentionally designed for the busy, active woman on-the-go. Most pieces offer hands-free design. What's even better? The fabric itself is also fully recyclable.

Look for the pink water bottle tag in our Vera Bradley room.
